3 metre Springboard Age Group Diving Championships
9 year old Nathaniel Doza dived his way into the record books when he won the under 12 years City of Cambridge Swimming Club 3 metre Springboard Diving Age Group Championships. Narthaniel from St Iver Close, Cambridge was pressed by newcomer, Joe Lucas, but a magnificent inward dive scoring 6s gave him the title with the record breaking score of 65.75. Joe finished with 55.35 for the silver medal with Ryan Minnet taking bronze with 48.25 points. In the girls' under 12 years Sharnia Mockford, another talented 9 year old, put on a sparkling display to win with 71.50 points.
A second record fell in the girls 12/13 year group to Sophie Clark with a score of 99.10. Sophie scored well on all four dives to give her the title and a comfortable lead over silver and bronze medal positions Hazel Thornton with 71.65 and Hannah Tucker with 61.30 points.
Theo Morton showed a return to form in the boys 12/13 years taking the title with 86.65, but only just ahead of the ever-consistent Nick Orlowski with 82.80 points.
Matthew Jaroszeiwicz added the boys 14/15 year title to his growing lists of victories with a comfortable win scoring 94.70 points. In the oldest age group for 16-18 years Claire Dawkins used difficult high tariff dives to good effect to score 160.85 points for the gold medal, less than 1 point outside the record but well ahead of silver medal position Kirsty Matthews with 99.40 points.
These divers now look forward to the Midland District Intermediate Age Group Championships which will be held in Cambridge on Saturday 14 June starting at 3.45 pm.
